Mikel J. Eid, 81, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2011. Born April 13, 1930, in Indianapolis to the late Jon and Frances Eid, he graduated from Howe H.S. then enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War.

After serving his country, he returned to Indianapolis and spent 55 years in sales management in the food industry, including Colonial Baking Company, Earth Grains, and Dean Foods. Mikel was a member of St. George Orthodox Christian Church for his entire life. He was a long-time member of the Scottish Rite Masons and of the American Legion.

Mikel is preceded in death by sisters Eva (Alex) Simon and Mary (Sam) Kafoure and brothers Mike, Ralph (Irma), and Albert Eid. He is survived by brother Louis (Mildred, deceased) Eid, son Mikel (Cheri), daughter Carol (Jeff) Stevens, and son Ron. Through all his accomplishments and many friendships, he was most proud of his grandchildren: Kathryn (Ian) Sharer, Greg (Lindsay) Eid, Amanda Eid, and Sadie and Sophie Stevens; and great-grandchildren Meredith, Julia, and Cooper Mikel Sharer.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, from 4–8 p.m. with a Trisagion 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at St. George Orthodox Church, 4020 N. Sherman Drive, Indianapolis, on Saturday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Legacy Funeral Center at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. George Camp Scholarship Fund.

    Mike was one of my all time favorite suppliers to our stores and remained a good friend to our family to his last day. He embodies the words “Service” and “Loyalty” and “Friendship”. God bless his family. I’ll miss Mike! Danny O’Malia

    We knew Mike from the Carmel Legion. He was a pleasure to know and always had something interesting to say. We always looked forward to seeing him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
